With her once bright spirit now dimmed, Amalia finds solace one evening in the town's central grove.

Before her stands Ljos, a flickering light spirit, who reveals a magical truth: the town is shrouded in a dark fog woven from Amalia's memories and pain. These Shadows, as Ljos calls them, have cast a gloom over Respite, visible only to Amalia.
